Another success story for Ogilvy & Mather has been Ogilvy Brazil, who have gathered 5 Lions so far, for their 'Bald Cartoons' work for the children's cancer institute, GRAACC, including a Gold Lion in the outdoor category yesterday, and a Gold in the PR category on Monday. It has also picked up 1 Silver Lion and 2 bronze Lions so far. The initiative developed by Ogilvy Brazil, involved making some of the most beloved cartoon characters of all time bald in support of children with cancer. Cartoon greats chosen for the honours included Garfield, Popeye, Snoopy, and Hello Kitty. The campaign took the form of special cartoons aired on TV, as well as newspaper content, which helped drive home the message that children suffering through cancer deserve to be seen and treated just like everyone else.

The campaign was tremendously successful, with an estimated 91% of all social media savvy Brazilians supporting the campaign, impacting around 230 million people! Tham Khai Meng was incredibly moved by “The quiet empathy and humanity of the Gold Lion winning Bald Cartoons work that the São Paulo office produced.” He said that the work exemplified how children suffering with cancer don't need a ribbon, “They need understanding, dignity, and care.”
